Jhabua: As part of the Madhya Pradesh Police's 15-day "Stay Away from Drugs, It's Essential 2.0" campaign, Jhabua Police organized extensive awareness programmes across the district on the fifth day of the initiative. A major public awareness event was held during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav at Amba Palace, where thousands of citizens were educated about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged to build a drug-free society.।
The programme was attended by BJP District President Bhanu Bhuria, Collector Dr. Yogesh Tukaram Bharsat, Superintendent of Police Devendra Patidar, public representatives, government officials, members of social organisations, and a large number of rural residents. Around 5,000 citizens took a pledge to contribute towards creating a drug-free society.
A short awareness film highlighting the ill effects of drug addiction was screened, while artists performed a street play conveying the message that substance abuse is harmful not only to individuals but also to families and society. Speakers described the campaign as a people's movement rather than merely a police initiative and stressed the importance of families, educational institutions, and social organisations in protecting the youth from addiction.।
As part of the campaign, Superintendent of Police Devendra Patidar and collector Dr yogesh tukaram bharaat personally visited the city bus stand and key public locations, where he pasted anti-drug awareness stickers on auto-rickshaws and other public transport vehicles. He also interacted with drivers and passengers, appealed to them to stay away from drugs, and administered a pledge for a drug-free life.
Similar awareness activities were conducted across all police station and outpost jurisdictions in the district. Police officers placed anti-drug messages on autos, buses, and other public transport vehicles, while awareness programmes were organised in markets, bus stands, public squares, and rural areas. Citizens were informed about the dangers of drugs such as ganja, opium, smack, and other narcotic substances.
According to the police, 25 awareness programmes were organised across the district on the fifth day of the campaign, reaching approximately 8,585 citizens with the message of a drug-free society.
Jhabua Police appealed to the public to actively participate in this anti-drug movement and to immediately report any information related to illegal narcotic substances to the police.
